IRS is a very esteemed position that comes under the Government of India. IRS Officers are concerned with the compilation, administrationandpolicy formation of direct and indirect tax. Due to this reason, IRS officers are often called as Tax administrators of India. An IAS Officer is a top ranked officer in the Civil Service of the executive division of the Government of India. In their daily affairs, IAS Officers carry out administration and policy making works at National level.
IRS comprises two branches - IRS (Customs and Central Excise) and IRS (Income Tax), which are controlled by two separate statutory bodies, viz.,Central Board of Excise and Customs (CBEC) and Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) respectively
