New Delhi: A day after its order to relief central government employees of submitting  to their  () claim, in a complete U-turn, the central government on October 8 issued an order that boarding passes, a mandatory requirement for passing of Travelling Allowance (TA) bill.
The central government through the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT)’s Circular F.No. G-14019/2/13-Cash  dated October 7, 2014 had done away with a mandatory requirement of submitting boarding passes by their employees to claim Travelling Allowance (TA) for any official tours undertaken by them.
The Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) said on the above Circular, “Difficulties have been expressed by various quarters in production of original boarding passes along with TA claims from time to time.”
“The matter has been considered and it has been decided with the approval of the competent authority that in order to simplify the procedure of settlement of TA claims, the condition of submission of boarding passes along with settlement of TA claim is dispensed with.”
In an unexpected U-turn, the central government has decided on October 8 to reject the above relief applying to all its employees, intended to protect misuse of Air travel facility and save the national exchequer from losses crores of rupees due to charging by Air India.
The government said through Ministry of Finance’s Office Memorandum NO. 19030/3/2014-E.IV Dated October 8, “submission of Boarding Passes as proof of having undertaken the journey is a requirement under the rules and procedures for passing TA claims, all concerned are required to follow these instructions.”
“Ministries/Departments etc. are accordingly advised that these instructions may be brought to the notice of all concerned for strict compliance.”
